Ice Instruments
Music sculpted by nature.
An art of music, ice, and magic at the Paradice Arena in Passo Paradiso (TN), at over 2,500 meters above sea level.
THE SOUND OF ICE
At over 2,500 meters above sea level, among the snow-capped peaks of Passo Paradiso, just above the Tonale Pass, in the heart of the Alps, a unique project is born: musical instruments sculpted entirely from ice. Here, in the enchanting Paradice Arena, I handcraft violins, violas, percussion instruments, and other instruments, using only water, cold, light, and passion.
Each creation is ephemeral, unique, and alive, because it is played by the ice itself. The shapes are brought to life with chisels, saws, and patience, but it is nature that determines the timbre: each instrument sounds different, unique, like the moment it plays.
ART, MUSIC AND MAGIC
DISCOVER PARADICE ARENA!
In the heart of the Presena Glacier, between Ponte di Legno and the Tonale Pass, the Paradice Arena hosts a season of extraordinary concerts featuring instruments made entirely of ice. Artists from around the world perform in this theater sculpted from the snow, where every note resonates within the crystal walls.
Participating in this project, for me, is much more than a job: it’s an act of love for nature, for art, and for pure sound.
